About Us

The Quay Restaurant is a member of The Great Highgate Trading Company Ltd and is the second eatery in the group.

The Great Highgate Trading Company Ltd was formed to manage the restaurant and farming ventures of Lloyd Rooney and Mike Fraser. The group has grown from a single restaurant, The Cove in Waipu Cove, and their beef and sheep farm, Highgate Hill in the Waikato to now include The Quay in Whangarei and The Dune in Mangawhai. Our farming ventures have also grown in recent months to include a market garden, The Vege Shack, in Maungakaramea near Whangarei in Northland.

We believe in a true gate to plate philosophy, being able to trace our ingredients from our farms right to the plate we place in front of you !

From humble beginnings to a force in Northland Eateries, watch this space, there is more to come !
